We invite you to attend an ecumenical Ash Wednesday service at noon at Mars Hill University’s Broyhill Chapel (on Hwy 213 that runs through the MHU campus). Rev. Melissa and pastors from several area communities of faith will lead the service.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of forty days of introspection; pondering our mortality and our need of a savior (the ashes are a symbol of our mortality). The forty days are a time of penitence, prayer, and fasting, and they can also be a time of taking up a discipline that honors the Creation and our Savior. The forty-day time period runs through Holy Saturday, the day before Easter, the day we give thanks that we do indeed have a savior in Jesus Christ. We invite you to join with other Christians on this journey to Easter that begins Wednesday, March 1.
